Presidential dog ratifies new animal welfare law in Brazil
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro signs new law, which increases the punishment for pet cruelty. The signing of the law took place in the company of a presidential dog named Nestor, which the, climbing on the desk, witnessed in some way the ratification. Still in Brazil, for the mistreatment of animals, except for the fine, threatened with punishment from 3 to 12 months in prison (which increased by a third in case of death of the animal). Now, if the victims are – dogs or cats, imprisonment increases to 24 months and additional fine. There is also a ban on having other animals (based on materials from Corriere della Sera).
